Question from Dan Lines, Chester : What system of pace-notes do you use?
Answer: My first pace-note event (in 1998) was based on the 1-6 system as supplied to competitors on the ANCRO series. However, I've since moved onto the 1-9 system, where 1 denotes a very fast corner, and 9 indicating a very slow one. I also use various extra words to tweak the notes where necessary.

Question from Simon Healing, Lincoln: What is your preferred surface?
Answer: A tough one! I've been successful on National-level events on both gravel and tarmac, so don't really mind what I'm competing on. If I was pressured into selecting a preference, it would be a really wet, muddy gravel event, or a dry closed-road rally.

Question from Martin Westrop, Newcastle: Why have you changed from an Evo VII to a Fiat Stilo?
Answer: A long story! The biggest factor was that my new sponsors wanted me to compete on events all over the UK, rather than the predominately Welsh-based events of the ANCRO series. Also, the higher running costs associated with running my Evo on BRC events, the unknown factor regarding its competitiveness against the Evo 8 and Evo 8.5, and the huge depreciation caused by the introduction of the new Evo models was a factor. Finally, the fact that the Stilo Rally Cup offers the biggest prize in UK rallying, plus prize money and trade awards on each event helps!

Question from Rob Rread, Cardiff : Who do you think is the biggest threat?
Answer: I honestly have no idea. I know nothing about the Italian and Finnish crews rumoured to be contesting the series, and would find it very hard to pick a favourite from the crews who competed in the UK last season. All I do know is that whoever takes the S1600 award, is really going to have earned it!!
