Team PURE Digital's Paul Alexander (Kings Langley) and Vicky Johnson (Denbigh) claimed a fine 15th overall plus awards for 3rd in class and best mixed crew on this weekend's Mutiny National Rally. With Vicky also collecting the leading lady co-driver award, the successful outing was a fine tonic for the PURE Digital and Polypipe Civils supported team.
The rally proved far from straightforward however. A broken drive shaft on the day's longest stage, followed by a hydraulic failure that left Paul struggling without power steering or active differentials over the final two tests, meant the result was hard-earned.
"Am I pleased to see this finish line!" commented Paul at the finish line of the final stage. "My arms were killing me in there, and I literally couldn't move the steering wheel at times. I think we spent as much time up banks or in ditches as we did on the road, and had one very lucky escape on a tight right hander. However, I'm absolutely delighted to get this result and give the whole team a lift. Steph and the team at SRM Racing have worked way beyond the call of duty all season, so it's great to see their efforts rewarded with this finish.
As usual, the Yokohama-shod Mitsubishi was carrying Sky Sports in-car cameras, with the team's exploits being broadcast on Friday 1st July.
