For those who think rallying is a poor relation to circuit racing, here are a few facts to help demonstrate how expensive it is to operate in a professional manner at National Championship level.

  • The Mitsubishi cost over £100k to build
  • Average entry fees are £650 per rally
  • Accommodation for the team members costs around £350 per rally
  • Fuel costs £4 per litre, and the Mitsubishi does 1km per litre
  • Clutches (£400) are replaced every 250 miles
  • Turbo (£1800) is rebuilt or replaced every 3 rallies
  • Drive-shafts are rebuilt after every event
  • Front, rear and centre diffs are checked/re-built after every 2 events
  • Gearbox is checked/re-built after every 2 events
  • Suspension components checked/replaced after every event
  • Dampers rebuilt after 3 gravel rallies
  • Bumpers, sills and lower door panels are re-painted after every 2 gravel events
  • We use around 10-12 tyres per (70 stage mile) gravel rally
  • We circulate pre/post event press releases to over 100 contacts for each rally
  • Kevlar sump & floor guards replaced after 2/3 gravel rallies - around £1500 the set
  • We provide/attend around 10 "off-event" corporate functions each year
  • We employ SRM Racing to handle all aspects of car preparation
  • SRM bring 4 professional motorsport engineers to support the car on each event
