TEAM DAMAGE CONTROL GUNNING FOR GLORY

Saturday 6th November will see Team Damage Control rally driver Paul Alexander (Kings Langley) heading to the military bases of Aldershot to compete on the Tempest National Rally. Alongside regular co-driver Mike Panes (Cardiff), Paul will be pushing his SRM Racing-prepared Mitsubishi Lancer Evo to its limits in a bid to bring the 2004 season to an end on a high note.

Encouraged by supporters from Rainbow International, ISS Damage Control and Polypipe Civils out watching their team, the crew are determined to put on a good show. Paul Alexander - "The Tempest is unfinished business for me, as we were fighting for a podium spot on the 2002 event until a final stage problem cost us a dream finish. I'll definitely be aiming to make up for that disappointment this time out."

The event starts and finishes at the Pegasus Village retail park in Aldershot, and covers around 45 stage miles, including 3 visits to the "spectator-special" stage situated alongside the Rushmoor Arena service arena. Whilst held in an area hardly famed for its rallying heritage, the combination of varied stages, some of which will run in darkness, and a quality entry will ensure that the Bill Gwynne Rallyschool instructor will have to work hard for a good result.

Mike Panes - "This event has perhaps the widest range of conditions that we'll face all year, but the car and the Yokohama tyres have been running well recently, so we expect to be competitive. However, you'd have to say that top-seed Phil Morgan in his ex-World Rally Championship Subaru will be hard to keep up with!"

Despite setting top stage times on the past three events, Paul's Mitsubishi will undergo an intensive winter development programme in preparation for a full assault on the 2005 MSA National Gravel Championship.
