Fresh from appearing at the hugely successful Rally Supercar show at Castle Combe last weekend, Team Damage Control pairing of Paul Alexander and Mike Panes now look forward to contesting the Bill Gwynne Rallyschool and Motorsport Stages rally on Saturday 21st August.
Held within the famous Sweet Lamb rally complex in mid-Wales, the event includes over 40 miles of competitive action on roads previously used on the UK's round of the World Rally Championship.
"We hadn't originally planned to do the event, but Bill Gwynne Rallyschool, one of our key sponsors, is fielding a team for the event and invited us to join in. The event is also the perfect opportunity to gain more experience
of our new Mitsubishi whilst having a pressure-free, fun weekend" said co-driver Mike.
The ex-Mitsubishi USA Lancer will appear in a slightly different specification since the last outing on the Swansea Bay Rally, as the team at SRM Racing work through their programme of adapting the car to suit UK
events. In particular, the car will have revised transmission software, together with different springs and damper settings. The team will also be using Yokohama's latest gravel tyre that impressed Paul when he tested them recently.
"We were offered a set of the new tyres for the final stage of the Swansea Bay Rally, and are convinced that they offer a good step forward in performance. Now that they are publicly available, we'll be able to use them for the entire event, hopefully allowing us to learn more about them and push harder still"
Following the Bill Gwynne Stages event, the team's next event is likely to be the Plains Rally on 25th September where they hope to unleash further potential from the car with the introduction of an alternative gearbox together with other development parts provided by Doughty Precision Engineering.
