Born in Edinburgh in 1960 (a Royal Infirmary boy), Mike's formative years were spent in the beautiful Scottish border town of Selkirk, where his first recollection of a rally car was sat on a wall watching and waving to competitors on the RAC Rally in the late 60's as they passed by his house between stages.
Now, a few years older and living in Cardiff, Mike balances his life between his day job as a Civil Engineer, and co-driving for one of the UK's leading drivers, Paul Alexander.
A capable International Co-driver who has competed on many UK Championships, both Tarmac and Gravel, Mike started his motor sport career behind the wheel of a 1500cc Mini Cooper S. Unfortunately, after one accident too many, Mike's ambition of becoming the next Tony Pond or Ari Vattenen, took a nosedive over the infamous Deer's Leap, on Epynt.
A step into the passenger seat ensued and so Mike's co-driving career begun.
Numerous road rallies over the next few years and with some successes, Mike decided to move to stage rallying, winning the Motoring News 1300cc Championship four years in succession culminating in earning a Championship 5th overall.
Competing on mainly tarmac rallies, Mike partnered many competent drivers, most of whom ran out of money long before they ran out of talent. Outings all over Europe, in various championships, offered experiences of co-driving in many languages and guises. These experiences allow Mike to compete with confidence at the highest levels in the UK.
